Building on V7.10, this major release brings breakthroughs for complex gating design, automatic processing of giant giga-casting assemblies, extended thixo-moulding support for large aluminium and magnesium components, together with new composite forming simulation, targeting automotive lightweight, new-energy and heavy-duty casting applications.
Advanced Gating System: Scoop Gate for Complex Casting Requirements
Traditional gating tools are limited for special-runner structures used in semi-solid and large high-pressure die-casting. V7.11 upgrades the gating design module with native scoop gate support, which stabilises melt flow and reduces oxide inclusions for large structural castings.
The enhanced design wizard accelerates full gating layout creation, with dedicated templates for thixo-moulding gates. Improved CAD STEP import/export and 3D fillet functions guarantee seamless geometry exchange with external CAD systems while preserving design quality.
Giant-Model Automation: Integrated Casting and Mould Stress Analysis
Against industry pain points of oversized giga-casting assemblies and heavy manual pre-processing, the upgraded FastMesh and Flexible 3D Mesh enable fully automatic meshing for complex moulds with dense conformal cooling channels. Smart meshing modelling drastically reduces manual work for cooling-system extraction.
Major graphical performance improvements deliver up to 100× faster model rotation, and 2–5× speed-up for object deletion, ensuring smooth interaction even for multi-hundred-million-element models. Powered by the new CDPE nonlinear dynamic solver with explicit/implicit algorithms and element-activation function, users can perform unified filling, solidification and coupled stress analysis for both cast parts and complete mould assemblies to evaluate residual stress, distortion and mould fatigue. Volume-based mapping and the new data converter enable precise data transfer across different meshes and objects.
Expanded Thixo-Moulding & New RTM Composite Simulation
Based on V7.10's magnesium thixo-moulding capability, V7.11 extends semi-solid simulation for large-size aluminium and magnesium castings. The CPI Setup now accounts for casting wall thickness and melt flow direction effects, with optimised mould-cycling simulation, validated with leading machine suppliers on real-world giga-casting cases. Post-solver tools predict mechanical properties for both alloy families.
Cast-Designer now supports composite forming such as RTM process, considering complex viscosity behaviour and fibre-resistance effects, expanding software application scope beyond metal casting.
Physical AI for Casting Process
C3P Software also starts to integrate the Physical AI model into Cast-Designer, with relevant big-data driven models planned to become available in the near future. This integration paves the way for next-generation intelligent casting process prediction and optimisation.
